  • Luke 2:8-9 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Of all the people in the Christmas story, other than the Lord, I have always seemed to enjoy the shepherds. It might be because all of life growing up, I wanted to be a wise man in the Christmas play but every time I got demoted to a shepherd. There I would be in my bath robe that I hated, with towel wrapped around my head. But the truth is, I believe that shepherds are some of the most interesting characters in the Christmas story. I wonder how many people can identify with the shepherds. The most revered man in Israel’s history was King David. One would think because he was a shepherd he would be one that people would have looked upon differently. The truth is, Shepherds were looked down upon. In fact, they were considered to be unclean and dirty. Sheep give off a substance called lanolin that could probably be used for glue. So, if you were a shepherd, you were not allowed in the temple to worship, and yet these were those who kept the most valuable thing to the Jews, and that would be the sacrificial lamb. So, that wonderful night, and it was a night like hundreds of nights before. It had been four hundred years since they had heard the voice of God. But this night, this night like no other night before the sky would open up and the angel of the Lord would make the greatest announcement that this world had ever heard. And who was it made to? A group of lowly shepherds, the outcast, those who were not welcomed in the temple. Those the Pharisees and Sadducees looked down upon. It was to this group of lowly shepherds the greatest announcement that things would never be the same and it was made to a group of humble shepherds. Now, what does that say to you and I about who our Father in Heaven is? It says that He is looking for you. Yes, you who are not rich or even have little to no money. You who have screwed up and done things that have kept you away from church and the Bible and even prayer. This says to us that Lord Jesus is looking for every one of us that have desire to come to Him. No one is excluded who will come and come in repentance. Did you at one time start for the Kingdom but turned back? The Lord will not turn you away if you mean business. In the book of Isaiah 55:1 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Pastor Lee Cruse If you think that today your life is a mess, then maybe it’s time for you to turn it over to the Lord and let Him drive for a while. I have found that when you trust Him, He won’t run your life over in the ditch.

  • Pastor’s Corner December 7, 2025 Grace Is A Gift Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Most people know about the Grace of God or at least they think they do. God’s grace is where He has forgiven us of all our sins and has even declared us not guilty so that we can stand in His presence someday. Yes, Grace is a gift but it is much more than that, and too many mistakenly think that they can now go live their life however they want to. What many don’t understand is the power of God’s Grace, and yes, we are forgiven, and God takes the righteousness of Christ and places it upon us. God’s grace is a power, it is the God given ability to live life the way the Lord wants us to. Everyone knows Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians tells us what Grace is not. Grace is not of yourself, it is all about Jesus and it’s not of works. He also tells us that if it were by ourselves or by works then what we would have is some big mouth person bragging about what they had done to get there. So yes, that it is not of yourself and not of works that is true. But what we must realize is that the Grace of God has a power to it that the person who comes to Christ and surrenders to the Lord and allows God’s grace to apply to their life, they will never be the same. Ephesians 2:8-9 talks about God’s grace but if you read on to the next verse, listen to what it says about what God will do for the person that is asking for God to apply His Grace to their life. Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Verse 10 tells us that God has applied His Grace to our lives and now we have invited the God of the universe to make and mold us into what He wants. That we were created for good works and God has prepared a plan for our lives before we were ever born. If we miss the plan that God has for us, I believe the day will come where we will experience a great deal of disappointment. God’s grace has a power to it that propels the child of God to greater heights and greater works. Even for those who have named the name of Jesus to accomplish things they never thought that they could. The Apostle Paul talked about this very thing in I Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Did you get that? Paul was saying that when it came to works, he labored more than anyone and then he said, yet it was not him but the Grace of God which was with me. Are we saved by works? No! But are works important? Yes! While works will not save you, they demonstrate that you belong to Jesus. Jesus Himself said “by their fruits you will know them”. The book of James tells us that faith without works is dead. While works do not save us they are a confirmation to us and the world that we are saved. There is a verse that says “he that continues to the end will be saved”. The person who continues to the end is saved not because they continue to the end, but because they continue to the end because they are saved. Pastor Lee Cruse who believes that Our Father in Heaven has outlined a trip for each one of us and that trip can be a great adventure.

  • I Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. In this November Thanksgiving Season, I talked to you last week about peace and the three types of peace. There is peace with God (Romans 5:1) that comes to us then we surrender our souls to the Lord we have peace with God. Then there is the Peace of God, that comes to us in tough situations and as we trust in the Lord. (Philippians 4:4-7). There is also Peace on earth, which will only come when our Lord Jesus Christ comes at the Second Coming. In order to have peace in our lives, being a thankful person is instrumental in possessing peace. Thanksgiving is so instrumental because being a thankful person also determines whether or not we are a content person. I believe that the whole world seeks after contentment, but the truth is, most people are dissatisfied with life. We see people that seem to have it all, money, fame, and respect, yet how many have found that at the end of the day they are restless. Why, are so many restless and not satisfied with their life? I believe it is because they have put their trust in things that are temporal. Jesus told us that everything that we see will one day pass away, but His word will stand for ever. His word is not temporal but eternal and I believe that a person who allows Christ to be first in their life will find the rock that will support them through every storm in life. I also believe that to be a thankful person is the key to being content, being satisfied with what you have rather than complaining about what you don’t have. So, I hope in this thanksgiving season you will begin the habit of thanking the Lord for every thing that you have, and even allowing the Lord to direct your path so that when the storms of life come at you, you will look to Him with a thankful heart.
