  • John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. When we talk about what is wrong with America today, I think the greatest problem that we face is that we have moved away from the truth. For me, the greatest evidence of truth is the word of God. I believe that the Bible is inherent and without mistake. If you look at all the other so-called inspired books that supposedly speak for God, whether it is the Quarin, the Book of Moorman or even the Jehovah Witness Watchtower, they all have one thing in common. They were written by one man. But the Bible was written by over 40 different human authors over a period of approximately 1,500 to 1,600 years. This collection of 66 books was written in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) on three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe) by authors from different types of back grounds. The Bible has proven its self through prophesy by predicting the future long before it happens. One man that was on the staff of the Jehovah Witnesses Watchtower, said they had predicted over 1300 prophesies and not a single one of them came true. He finally concluded that he did not want to be a part of an organization that promoted false prophesy, and he came to Christ. Peter said in II Peter 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The greatest problem when we don’t allow the word of God to be our voice is that we are making a terrible mistake. I believe that the Bible is the truth, the absolute truth. When we don’t allow, or believe, in something besides God’s word then we are dealing in situational ethics or what is called relativism. When you practice these things then you are dealing what was called in the book of Judges where everyone did what was right in their own eyes. So, in other words, I have truth and you have truth, but the problem is we both can’t be right. You have to be pretty naïve to think that every time a decision has to be made people will always do what is right. Just suppose you buy a new car and you want me to come over and look at it. I tell you that it really looks great and then I say to you, I think I will take it. You say you can’t do that, and I says why not? This is what I want, and it is truth for me. But in situations where we involve the absolute truth of the word of God, the truth is defined. In John 17:17 it tells us that Jesus said, “your word is truth” and you should underline that in your Bible. When it comes for looking for authority to make a point, there is no other authority like Jesus, for me that settles it, if Jesus said the word of God is truth, then it is. Pastor Lee Cruse when you study the history of this country and our forefathers who wrote the constitution of the United States, you find that their road map was the word of God. Now if we could only get politicians to follow it.

  • Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. This is one of the commandments that the Lord has given to us with a promise attached to it. If we will honor our Mothers that our days will be long on the earth. The Lord is telling us that if we want to live a long life then we are to honor our mothers, but not just on Mother’s Day. I once heard the story of the great Baptist Preacher Dr. Jack Hyles. He was raised in a two-room shack that had a dirt floor. His dad was an alcoholic that drank up what money they had. Dr. Hyles said that many times they would not have anything to eat but he said that in one of those rooms they had a make shift kitchen and there was a pantry and all it had was a sheet hanging over some shelves. He said “when we had nothing to eat we would see our mother behind that sheet,” he said “we could see her feet and we would hear our mother praying and it wouldn’t be anytime that we would here a knock on the door, good will with some groceries.” He said “while my sister and I ate my mother would dance around the table praising the Lord.” Susanna Wesley is another great mother, she gave birth to 19 children in which 9 of them died. She went through two house fires, and her husband was away for two years. But even through all the difficulties she has been called the “Mother of modern Methodism” because her two sons John and Charles Wesley. The amazing thing about Susanna Wesley was that in raising her children she set aside time every day to teach each one of them. Each child had a day in which she would spend time with them to educated them. I believe when we get to Heaven and the Bema Seat of Judgment takes place, that there will be many great women who will be recognized that never wrote a book and never preached a sermon. They were just faithful to the calling of being a mother and tried to bring their children up in the admonition and nurture of the Lord. In this day that we live when a woman is asked what she does for a living and she replies that she is a home maker, there is a sense to some that she has not lived up to her ability and station in life. But I don’t believe that, and I believe for a woman to be faithful to the calling of being a mother and raising up children that will stand for Jesus Christ is the greatest calling a person can have. Pastor Lee Cruse that I hope on this special day as we honor Mothers, that you will go to your mother and let her know that you love her and appreciate all the things that she did for you. Like when there were five of you sitting at the dinner table and there were only four pieces of chicken and all of a sudden, your mother lost her appetite. Now, it may be that your mother has passed away like mine, say a special prayer for her, I believe that the Lord will convey that to her.

  • Pastor’s Corner May 3, 2026 Homecoming Psalms 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.” It is hard to believe that it has been 22 years that the doors opened for the Grace Bible Church. 18 People met in a home for the first time. That same week we got a call from two ladies that told us we could use their church. So, the church started meeting on Wednesday and Sunday nights. We had agreed to rent a building on Bloomfield that was owned by Murrel Cecil who was housing furniture in the building, but we never made it there because within two months we had outgrown that building. We prayed for where God wanted us to begin to worship. The building across from the Post Office seemed to be where the Lord wanted us. But when we inquired to rent it, we were told that the City had already paid three months rent. We asked if we could at least go and look at it to get ideas. We did, and we stood in that building and prayed and told the Lord that for some reason we felt that this was the place He wanted us to be. We gave the keys back to the owner and went on our way. The next day the Winchester Sun came out with a story that the city had lost their grant. Within two weeks the building was ours, and it would be ours for the next 10 years. How good the Lord is! He has answered so many prayers! The bank allowed us to use their parking lot on Sundays and then being willing to black top the entire back parking lot for free for us to have additional space. We were given a house behind our building that we could use free of charge of over 5 years. I could go on and on with story after story of God confirming to us that He wanted a work on this hill. The buying of the Fannie Bush Elementary school and the establishing of Grace Bible Academy that now houses over 200 Children. As I write this I am thinking of all those who have gone on to be with the Lord that without them this would have not been possible. This place tugs on my heart every day and I think about how the Lord has blessed us and continues to bless us. It is my prayer that each person who attends Grace Bible Church will make this church theirs. And that it will be a joy to them when they attend and they find the Lord Jesus’ presence every service. Crickett and I have often said that the people of this congregation are family to us. So, we hope that you will be glad when they say “Let us go unto the house of the Lord.” For when you read the rest of that Psalm here is what you find. You find a place to give thanks to the name of the Lord. You find a place to pray for the peace of Jerusalem which we know is when the Lord Jesus comes back. It tells us that we will find prosperity within it’s walls, the blessing of God and peace. And the result is verse 9, Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good. Pastor Lee Cruse
